Fred Wolinsky has a BA in Theatre Arts from Trinity College, Hartford, CT. He spent an intensive semester training in all areas of the theater at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center in Waterford, CT, where he worked with well-known actors, directors, designers, and puppeteers.
Fred has worked professionally as an actor, director, choreographer, and puppeteer in New York City, regional theater, summer stock, college productions, and touring productions. He got his professional start in his younger years performing his own show as a magician and ventriloquist for parties, organizations, and theaters, as well as performing in plays and musicals at Oceanside High School and Trinity College.
In 1979, Fred founded Pegasus Productions, which he ran through 1988. Pegasus produced elaborate puppet productions, featuring life-sized puppets, magic, and classical music. The company quickly grew to have 3 troupes touring throughout the eastern half of the United States.
In 1985, Fred founded Encore Performing Arts, Inc., a non-profit agency which books professional performers and performing groups touring around the eastern United States with both fun and educational productions for children's audiences. The company offers performers in a wide range of disciplines, including puppetry, music, dance, theater, musical theater, science, and other unique presentational styles. Encore has developed a national reputation for quality performances for young audiences. Productions have performed in theaters, performing arts centers, recreation centers, libraries, museums, and hundreds of schools. Fred retired from the company in 2009.
In 2005, Fred began work as an Adjunct Instructor of Speech and Theater in a local Community College, and continues to teach a few classes every year.
In 2007, he received an Associates of Applied Science degree in American Sign Language Interpreting, and began working as a professional interpreter. He received his national certification in 2009, from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, certified as NIC Master.
In 2013, Fred began his newest venture -- using his accumulated skills and experience as an actor, voice actor, and technician -- to start working independently as a Voice-Over artist, focusing on audiobook narration and production. He continued working as an Adjunct College Instructor, Sign Language Interpreter, and theater director as well.
In addition, he has worked with his husband, author/professor Joe Cosentino as editor and publisher of some of Joe's books. See http://JoeCosentino.weebly.com.
He enjoys his life's journey, and is still trying to figure out what he wants to do when he grows up.
